Why having an On-demand ECG monitor and event recorder is important for detecting abnormal cardiac rhythms?
The advent of technology has made it possible to have sensitive medical-grade wearables that detect infrequent abnormal heart rhythms (cardiac arrhythmias) in patients of all ages. The consulting physician may recommend such a system when symptoms are sporadic – less than daily.Current cardiac event monitors may miss the actual event, as by the time the monitor is worn, the event may have already passed. In addition, existing cardiac event monitor, which are usually hand-held, can only record a ECG rhythm when the device is held by both hands, which means these are usually limited to only a few minutes of recording. The Spyder Personal is a unique wearable that will change how infrequent arrhythmias are detected. It is a small leadless sensor that sends continuous data to a paired Android phone, and records a 5-min ECG strip when activated by the user.Upon patient trigger, the recorded strip is unique in that it displays the ECG rhythm 2.5 minutes prior to the activation and another 2.5 minutes after activation. This therefore will record any symptom or ECG abnormality prior to the user activating the recording. The user can also input type of symptom directly on the phone, therefore improving the correlation between User symptoms and actual ECG abnormalities.

SINGAPORE, Jan. 3, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — Web Biotechnology Pte Ltd (WEB, the “Company”), specializing in Cloud-based Remote and Personalized Wearable ECG monitoring today announced a Pre-series A financing round from Singapore-based SGinnovate.WEB produces the Spyder ECG, the World’s first medical grade ECG wearable that transmits continuously through a smartphone to a Cloud Database. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is then applied to the data to analyze ECG rhythm abnormalities in real-time. Its unique 24/7 “always on” system allows continuous patient ECG data transmission from anywhere in the world with a connected smartphone. Physicians can remotely log in securely into the database and report findings to patients from another connected device.WEB has 2 product lines; the Spyder PRO, which is used to replace traditional hospital-based Holter ECG systems with a simple non-invasive wearable system for diagnostic ECG monitoring for extended periods up to a month. The PRO is widely available in many hospitals in Singapore, in Asia and the EU, is CE-Marked and HSA (Health Sciences Authority Singapore)-approved for remote cardiac rhythm monitoring. Its ease of use by patients, real-time wireless connectivity to the cloud, allowing quick physician feedback has proven a marked improvement over traditional cumbersome, wired Holter systems. The Spyder PRO is available currently in over 30 countries worldwide through WEB’s distribution network. The Spyder PERSONAL is an ECG Event monitor that allows anyone with a Spyder Wearable and connected smartphone to monitor his or her own cardiac rhythm. An App-enable smartphone allows continuous personal visualization of the ECG and an intuitive interface on the smartphone allows a 5-minute rhythm strip/event to be captured with this system into the cloud database. The user receives the captured event via immediate Email notification and the ECG strip can be sent to a physician for consultation. The Spyder PERSONAL is available as an online purchase.

Spyder Pro functions as an extended Holter ECG Monitor with event recording function. As an extended Holter Monitor, it can record ECG indefinitely with no time limits, unlike existing Holter Devices which can only record up to 72 hours and information has to be downloaded to the service provider for analysis.Spyder Personal functions as an Event Monitor which captures the cardiac episode, upon patient trigger. Importantly, unlike usual event monitors, it sends 2.5 minutes of data prior to, and after the time stamp, allowing user to specifically tie in any abnormal symptom to the ECG reading. Current monitors often miss the actual event, as by the time the monitor is worn, the event has already passed. In addition, existing ECG event monitor records only a snap shot (symptomatic) event usually between 30-45s duration.

WEB Biotechnology announces the release of the Spyder Personal Event Monitor – Available for Online Purchase
Spyder Personal ECG Event Monitor is now released for online purchase to select countries. The Spyder Monitor is capable of recording up to 5 minutes of ECG data upon patient trigger. This key data is then archived in a secured and private cloud exclusive to the Spyder Personal user. The resulting data can then be extracted as a PDF to be reviewed by the user’s personal doctor or user may also opt for our analysis report service by our team of doctors and medical professionals. With the extended time recorded upon patient-trigger, the Spyder Personal is therefore more likely to pick up very infrequent arrhythmias, such as single extra-beats, or runs of irregular rhythm ( such as atrial fibrillation, a common arrhythmia that can potentially cause stroke ) as compared to traditional event monitors, and feed-back the information to you for immediate attention. The 5-minute strip provided is also more likely to accurately correlate and time your symptoms with any ECG abnormality.
